Interview with Midwest Black Restaurant Week – Alycia Hightower National Restaurant Coordinator

Black Restaurant Week (BRW) is excited to have you as a community partner to support minority businesses recovering from the pandemic and recent destruction caused in their local communities.
Founded in 2016 by Warren Luckett, Falayn Ferrell, and Derek Robinson, Black Restaurant Week® is dedicated to celebrating the flavors of African-American, African, and Caribbean cuisine nationwide. BRW is a marketing campaign highlighting a diverse selection of restaurants owned by African, Caribbean, African-American descent. Diners can enjoy special menus starting as low as $10 per person. With the hard financial hit to the culinary industry, our mission of creating financial stimulus for businesses in our communities is even more critical.

MIDWEST BLACK RESTAURANT WEEK: JULY 24 – AUGUST 2, 2020
The Black Restaurant Week campaign is modeled after the principles of cooperative economics. The Restaurant Industry was one of the hardest hit by the economic shutdown from the COVID-19 pandemic. BRW promotes small businesses and culinary professionals who don’t have the financial resources to implement a city-wide marketing campaign independently.

Through the success of the campaign, BRW is able to financially stimulate small businesses and help them create job opportunities in their local communities. Please save the date of July 24 – August 2, 2020, for the 1st Annual Midwest Black Restaurant Week.

2020 BLACK RESTAURANT WEEK PARTNERSHIPS
With your support, we can achieve our 2020 mission to promote and showcase as many culinary businesses as possible. The support of individuals, combined with the actions of corporations, community leaders, and coalitions, will come together to ensure a strong financial impact in minority small businesses.
